Dr. Sridhar Seshadri

SVP & Chief Cancer Operations Officer, Stanford Health Care

Dr. Sridhar (“Sri”) Seshadri joined Stanford Health Care (SHC) in July 2003 and is currently the SVP and Chief Cancer Operations Officer for Destination Service Lines (DSLs) with oversight over the Cancer, Cardiovascular, Radiology, and Transplant programs. Dr. Seshadri also serves as the Co-Chair of the Funds Flow Workgroup that is responsible for the funds flow between the SHC and Stanford University’s School of Medicine (SOM). 

Dr. Seshadri started at Stanford Health Care as the Vice President of the SHC’s Process Excellence Department and in this role was responsible for improving the quality, patient experience, and operational efficiencies across the hospital and the clinics. He was also responsible for the creation of the SHC Leadership Academy whose objective is to develop a cadre of empowered leaders to help SHC achieve its long-term objectives. Dr. Seshadri is guest faculty in the Stanford Medicine Leadership Academy. He is also guest faculty in the operations management classes at the Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. 

Until 2002, Dr. Seshadri was employed by General Electric’s Medical Systems division and was the Vice-President and General Manager of their Healthcare Solutions business which consulted on Six Sigma and Lean operational improvements for hospitals in the United States and Europe. Prior to this role, he led the upstream marketing (product development) group for GE’s digital imaging business unit (GEMS-IT). Prior to General Electric, he worked for the Eastman Kodak Company where he led their digital imaging business for healthcare. Dr. Seshadri started his career with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he led their Medical Informatics Group. This group was responsible for the early development of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS). Dr. Seshadri was on the Refresher Course Faculty, for over a decade, of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Society of Photo Instrumentation Engineers (SPIEE) annual meetings. 

Dr. Seshadri has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University, India, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University, a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in operations management from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. 

Dr. Seshadri is a member of the Area Board of the American Cancer Society. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Stanford Medicine’s Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (AIMI) Center. 

He has published over 120 papers and two book chapters largely in medical imaging informatics and cost-effectiveness analyses.
